The Call

Five Signs Life Is Inviting You Into Something More

Every woman receives the call differently. For some, it begins with exhaustion. For others, purpose, belonging, or a longing they can't quite explain. These five signs are often where the invitation first appears. They aren't symptoms of failure. They're often the first signs that life is inviting you into something more.

You need a moment where you're not holding everyone and everything together.

The First Call · From Overwhelmed to Present

You're the one keeping track of what nobody else sees. You don't need another productivity hack.

You are the one who remembers. The invisible layer that keeps everything running: the appointments, the unwritten deadlines, the needs anticipated before anyone else has thought to ask. This is not a scheduling problem. It is the shape of a life organized around everyone except you, and it cannot be solved by doing more. Presence is not a luxury or a productivity technique. It is what becomes possible the first time you are permitted to set it all down and simply be here.

Your body has been trying to get your attention for a long time.

The Second Call · From Numb to Embodied

Midlife isn't failing you.

The exhaustion that will not lift. The sleep that will not come. The weight that will not move. The cycle, the hormones, the headaches, the gut. You have been told your body is the problem: something to manage, medicate, optimize, or override. It is not. It is the most honest part of you, and it has been trying to reach you through every symptom you have been told to silence. You were never taught to listen. This is where that changes.

You were made to belong, without having to try.

The Third Call · From Performing to Belonging

You have the group texts, the girls' trips, the book club. You also know what it's like to feel alone in a room full of women.

You have the friendships. You have the full calendar, the long history, the people who would answer your call. And still, you have known the particular kind of aloneness that shows up in a room full of women. The one nobody names because it does not make sense to anyone who has not felt it. You are not bad at friendship. You are tired of the work it takes to be liked for a version of yourself you have been curating for decades. Belonging is not something you earn by being the right kind of woman in the right kind of room. You are part of something larger than any group you have joined, and your ache for it is the oldest, truest part of you.

This world can still take your breath away.

The Fourth Call · From Serious to Alive

You have fun. You laugh. You just can't remember the last time you were moved to tears by beauty or awe. Life trained you to stop noticing.

You have not lost your capacity for wonder. You have been living a life that slowly stopped asking for it. The pace got faster. The lists got longer. Crying at a piece of music, letting a sunset actually stop you, allowing beauty to knock you sideways for no reason at all. These started to feel inefficient. Like something you could not afford. But awe is not a luxury. It is the feeling of being returned to scale, of remembering you are part of something bigger than your inbox. The world has been reaching for you. Your capacity to be moved is not gone. It was only trained out of you, patiently, over a very long time. It is still yours. And it has been waiting.

There are many paths home to yourself. You get to choose.

The Fifth Call · From Drifting to Purposeful

You built the life you were told to want. It still doesn't feel like enough. You're not ungrateful. You never had permission to want something different.

You did the thing. The career, the partner, the home, the life that photographs well and mostly feels right in real life too. You are not ungrateful. You are not confused. You are a woman who kept her end of the bargain with a world that kept promising fulfillment at the next milestone. And something in you has been quietly telling you, for a long time, that the milestones are not the answer. That knowing is not ingratitude. That knowing is your soul. You were made for a life that reaches beyond you, in the direction of meaning, community, and contribution. Not a bigger version of the story you were handed. A different one. You are allowed to want it. You always were. And there is more than one way to find the way home.

The way back exists.
And you can always come home.

The Call

You weren't losing yourself. You were being called.

The moments that unsettle us aren't interruptions. They're often invitations into a more meaningful way of experiencing the life we've already built.

The question isn't whether you'll receive the call. It's whether you'll answer it.
